‘redefining urban open space... Superimposition between two dimensions’
Under popularization of social media, people interactions have been largely shifted to a virtual one, resulted in many underused open park. To draw the public back to outside again, we make use of the power of social networking to reconnect people to the physical world.
Redefining urban open space, we believe what public really need is only one static point allowing them to stay. Hence, a cool and interactive structure element, X-TREE, is proposed as the base of the urban open space. It serves as both an installation and an network transmitter which enhances interactions in physical and virtual world simultaneously.
‘Social networking leads to human isolation or
enhances our connection?’
In recent years, social interactions have been significantly relying on virtual and digital means, resulted in many underused open park. To draw the public back to outside again, we make use of the power of social networking to reconnect people to the physical world. Modern urban space should no longer be bounded by any specific form. Instead, it should embrace new forms of social interactions becoming the medium that intertwines the physical and virtual worlds.

For a success urban open space, three ingredients are concluded to achieve a holistic human interaction. Firstly, we define a gathering space as a physical point. Second, we have a digital system, ie. an app., like Instagram, Facebook, to catalyse an instant social response. And at last, we need a virtual and reality network to create an intertwining social ground.
